Dual-Purpose Device for Winter Travel

This is an interesting product. It is essentially a small hair dryer that is made for traveling, or a boot warmer that is not quite as portable. The product works well and outputs warm air similar to a hair dryer os a boot dryer, but it doesn't do either one super great. The hair dryer attachment is tiny - almost an afterthought - and the boot attachments push the air out of the bottom which dries the boots eventually, but it can take awhile. Overall, the product is well-made, but it's not that small for travel, and I'm not sure the trade-offs are worth it.

Portable and dries well

Great dryer for winter sporting gear that works well. We use it to dry or snowmobiling gear: boots, gloves, snowpants, coats, bibs, one-piece suits, socks. And hilariously as this listing says - yes, you can use it to dry your hair if you want - though that would be a bit cumbersome. In fact, two people could dry their hair at once. Pros: * Dries gear fast -- allows you to select the time that it is active - 5, 10, 15, 30 and 60 minutes. Our other boot dryer allows selecting up to 120 minutes, but this one has a higher airflow, so 60 minutes on this dryer can dry things as well or better than our other boot dryer for less -- the volume of airflow is definitely more than our other dryer which has no speed setting, and only a timer. * The corugated flexible hoses are great for getting the tip deep down into the toebox of your boots, or high up into your snow pants or coat sleeves. It also dawns on me that the corugated flexible hoses can be used to reach underneath the cowling in our Ski Doo snowmobiles to reach where the starting relays are - which sometimes freeze when it's -10f to -20f, and require heating to work -- a pain to deal with that we normally use a heat gun carefully aimed at the plastics near the gas cap (!) * Compact and portable -- this really is something you can just pack with you when you go on trips and it won't take excessive space. * The selectable heat level is nice. Cons: * Noise: This sucker is quite loud - even on low (on low it emits a higher pitched noise which I think Hedgehog GO could probably tune and make better). Honestly, the best volume to run it on, we've found, is the medium setting. It's still quite loud, but acceptable. I guess that makes sense though - since if you *really* need to dry your stuff fast, you probably can suffer with the loud noise. * Selectable heat IMHO isn't really necessary. At this price point, I would rather see a moisture sensor, and have it pick a temperature based on the moisture level. * Expensive for what it does - at this price point I would expect some smarts to keep drying when it senses the air is still moist, or stop when it's dry enough.

Powerful

This is a really cool idea but not as great as the advertising makes it sound. The motors in these do spin fast, but there are plenty alternatives on the market that are the same if not better. Most don't include the heat setting but the heat on this doesn't get as hot as my hair dryer. It's hard to heat super fast moving air so I can ignore this, it does get hot. This whole thing is made of plastic and is much smaller than I thought. It's a strong plastic so I think it will last quite a while but not so much trust in the adapter. I hooked this up to some fluffy shoes I have and it dried them within 10 minutes. Overall the thing works great for hair and shoes but is a little pricey.

Clever

I received this Hedgehog GO dryer. It is pretty unique in that it will dry shoes or some clothing items like gloves and is convertible to a hair dryer. It is lightweight, and figuring out how to assemble and use it is easy. Heat and air is adjustable. I think output is a little weak for long or thick hair. Where i am finding it useful is drying my gloves and shoes after going out in rainy weather. Because it breaks down easily it is quite packable. It is a clever device.

Could be useful....

This is a sort of interesting combination of hair dryer and boot dryer--a combination many would not have thought of if they had been left alone for months to ponder what is missing from the world. The positives are: 1) Very compact and lightweight 2) Might meet a very niche need for travelers who are going skiing and forced to cruelly choose between packing a hair dryer or a boot dryer. What you get is a cylinder style dryer which can be adjusted both for volume and temperature of air--as well as the ability to set a timer on the unit itself if you are using this as a boot dryer. A separate U shaped tube connects to the dryer part and can be used to blow warm dry air into your wet boot or shoe in order to dry it from the inside. Used this way, boots will be dried quickly as warm air is injected into the moist interior--this is better than some dryers which I have seen which have a heating element but offer little air movement. The contraption is compact and flat and will fit easily into a ski bag. There is no sensor to automatically dry --the timer is the only control. The build quality is acceptable and while this does not read as a luxe item, it seems functional and durable enough. The attached cord is rather short--you will need to place this very near an outlet to plug it in. The plug is a built in GFCI which is helpful considering you will be using this around puddles of water. No case or pouch is included to stow this when not in use--surprising considering the price point that this is being sold at. As a hair dryer, I think it is just okay-- in a pinch. The volume of air is pretty borderline for anyone with long hair. This is not a powerful hair dryer compared to a real hair dryer and, aside from the short cord, it doesn't include any accessory nozzles or brushes. I give it an 'A' as a boot dryer and something less than that for any other possible use.

Changed Perspective

Initial review was 1 Star. After contact by Hedgehog and further more in depth review of the product I’ll give 4 Stars for Hedgehog’s concerns and desire to make a quality product. My initial review results are still accurate as my additional checks mirror my initial results. Original Review “The item arrived without the travel case. Box appears to have been previously opened, no security tape on box or means of assuring the box was unopened. The items were loose in the box, only the heater was in plastic wrap. Did test the unit. Very loud and mildly warm air on high. Set the timer for the five minute and it did run the full five minutes without getting any warmer than when first turned on. Reset the timer and got my instant read thermometer and tested again on HIGH HEAT setting fan on low speed the temperature only went to 120°. I decided to video and ran the HIGH HEAT setting with fan at high speed and the temp did make it to 130°-131° mind you it took me several tries and the GO had been continuously running for over five minutes never making it to the advertised 140°. I gave up due to the noise. The body of the dryer did not feel like it was overheating. The attachments are plastic and press into the body of the dryer. The extension for the boots do seem to be solid and quality. The attachment points on the hair nozzle boot adapter appears to be the potential weak link. One star for not sending what is being advertised and for not meeting the heat settings as advertised, the questionable attachment method for the adapters. The quality control is questionable if the minimum heat parameters can’t be met.” Update, December 2: the following is information from Hedgehog about the listing and product. I have increased the rating to three stars for the company’s attention to this review. “The case was a mistake by our designer, so we have removed that from the listing… ***(removed personal information)*** In terms of temperature, it will be 140 at exit of the device without adapter. Over time it will increase inside the shoe. It has an electronic temperature sensor sensor and shut off as well. Technically we could have it over 200 Fahrenheit, but we deliberately cut to output of 140 not to damage any of the sensitive materials. It also has 5% range when doing factory testing. Have a great day! Team Hedgehog” Update December 8; Team Hedgehog asked I do a couple other heat checks with my unit. I’ll give them credit for being concerned with their product and performance. This time I ran the unit for over 30 minutes on low fan setting. Placed into a pair of dry non-insulated boots straight from the closet. On high heat with a low fan setting the temperature settled in the upper 110°’s, on medium fan setting temperature settled into the mid 120°’s and in high fan setting temperature settled in the low 130°’s the probe was in the toe box of the boot. I only used the high heat setting and adjusted fan speed. In contrast with my other boot dryer the GO’s temperature and airflow surpasses the other dryer. Raised my review to 4 Stars the one Star deduction for the misleading initial listing, the open box feel and the lower temperature output, the increase in stars is due to Hedgehog’s attention to development and customer satisfaction. Yes, these will dry boots.

It's great for drying wading boots, probably also other kinds of boots; the only issue I have with it is that its noise is really high-pitched with a whine and rumble to it, and it's not great for my partner who has sound sensitivities. But it dried my completely sodden wading boots in about 2.5 hours rather than waiting literal days with them sitting out in the sun!!

Nice portable dryer for shoes and lighter stuff

Picked this up because wet boots and gloves are exactly where something like this helps most. The compact size is one of the best parts because I can pack it easily and keep it out of the way when I’m done. I also like that it has timer and heat settings instead of just being on or off. It does a good job with shoes, gloves, and lighter gear that just need to dry faster than air drying. I did notice the noise right away, and that gets old fast if it’s running nearby for long. I also wouldn’t use it as a real hair dryer because that part feels more like an extra than something I’d rely on. For travel or winter gear, this still feels useful to keep around.

Powerful, Compact, and Perfect for Travel

This portable shoe and gear dryer is surprisingly powerful for how small it is. The high-speed airflow really makes a difference—wet shoes and gloves dry much faster than I expected. It’s lightweight (only about 350g), so it’s easy to pack for trips, ski weekends, or even just keep in a gym bag. The compact design doesn’t take up much space at all. I love that it has adjustable heat and a timer, so you’re not overheating delicate materials. The dual-voltage feature is a huge plus for travel, especially internationally. It feels well-built and runs efficiently without being overly loud. If you’re active, travel often, or deal with wet boots and gloves regularly, this dryer is a really smart and practical investment.

Everything's decent and works but its a little underpowered and slow

I’ve been using this little gear dryer for a few weeks now, and honestly, it’s been kind of a mixed bag for me. On the plus side, I really like how compact it is. It doesn’t take up much space in my mudroom or gear bag, which makes it easy to leave out and use any time my boots or gloves get soaked from hikes or snowy walks. The airflow is stronger than I expected for something this small, and it does a decent job getting moisture out faster than just setting things by the radiator or on a shelf. Another thing I appreciate is that it feels somewhat versatile — I can slip it into shoes, gloves, and even light outdoor gear without a huge hassle. On rainy days when I’m heading out early for a walk, it’s nice not having to worry about stepping into damp boots. That said, there are a few things that bug me. First, for being marketed with a high-speed motor and all that, it doesn’t really cut drying time down as much as I hoped on thick winter boots. It gets them drier than nothing, but if they’re soaked, you’re still looking at a decent chunk of time before they’re ready to wear. Also, it’s a little louder than I expected — not obnoxious, but enough that I’ll wait to run it until I’m not trying to watch TV. The heat settings and timer are decent, but I do wish the attachments were a bit more user-friendly. Sometimes getting the airflow right into awkward-shaped gloves or boots takes a bit of fiddling, and I feel like a couple more adapter options would’ve helped. Overall, it’s not a miracle gadget, but for someone like me who deals with wet gear all winter, it’s a solid little helper that’s better than just letting stuff air dry. It’s useful, portable, and gets the job done — just don’t expect it to work miracles on really soaked heavy boots.

Pretty strong

Dryer is pretty strong. Works well. I love the versitility of this product though. I can use it as a blow dryer for my hair too! I think that's so awesome and definitely increases value and demand. Not a bad price point as well for what you get. This is very convenient to have especially if you gets your shoes/boots wet at work just take this out and dry them! Simple. Easy to use and quality is great. Works quickly and heats up well. I would recommend getting it. Especially in the winter/rainy months.

Really nice but expensive for what it is.

With winter upon us, I started to look at options to dry out my boots and gloves. Every winter is the same thing were we will have fun outside but then our stuff is soaked and just never gets dry. So I took the plunge and picked this up. I really like how flexible it is. Each arm is extendable to reach inside the boot or glove and drive the hot air in. There are different temperature settings as well to have more or less heat being pumped in. It is super easy to use being just a push of a button to work and seems to work well. It is loud while it runs so be aware of that. It is also some what hard to position it in such a way so that the nozzles are in the boots and the motor is not flopping in such a way that pulls the nozzles out. However, once you get the hang of it you can get it positioned well and it just works. It also says that it is a portable hair dryer which I am sure it would work for that but I don't see myself using it for that purpose. Overall very nice. Is it worth spending extra for it? I guess that depends on your desire for the portability of the unit. There are cheaper options though that I much explore.

Small but powerful

This little gem was a steal for all the use it has gotten. My friends and I went on a trip to fish and hunt, and we definitely had wet everything. The dryer placed in boots dries quickly and was very effective. for something this size it is definitely a great value for the money. The body of the dryer is sturdy and easy to wipe down. We used it daily and it always did the job. This was definitely a good purchase, and I'll use it around the house for everyday shoe drying after a good wash.

A Surprisingly Powerful Little Dryer That’s Become a Must‑Have in My Travel Bag

I picked up the Hedgehog GO portable shoe and gear dryer for trips and rainy‑day workouts, and I’m honestly blown away by how much power this tiny 350g device packs. The 105,000 RPM motor pushes warm air through my boots and gloves far faster than I expected, and the adjustable heat and timer make it easy to set and forget without worrying about overheating anything. The dual‑voltage feature is a huge bonus since I can take it anywhere without hunting for converters. Whether I’m drying soaked hiking boots or freshening up gym shoes, this compact dryer has become one of those gadgets I didn’t know I needed until I had it and now I won’t travel without it.
